This Privacy Policy describes how Simple SMS Manager ("the App"), developed by Hope Soft ("we," "us"), handles information when you use the App. The App is an SMS/MMS messaging app for Android.
| Data type | Why | Leaves your device? |
|---|---|---|
| SMS and MMS messages | Core messaging: viewing, sending, and receiving text messages requires the App to read and write to the device's SMS/MMS storage, as Android requires of any default SMS app. | No, unless you enable the optional Forward Messages feature (see below). |
| Phone numbers | Shown as conversation identifiers; used to send messages. | No, unless you enable the optional Forward Messages feature. |
| Contacts | To display a contact's name and photo next to a conversation, and to suggest contacts while composing a new message. | No — read locally only, never transmitted or stored by us. |
| Notifications permission | To show a notification when a new message arrives, since the App (as your default SMS app) is responsible for notifying you of new texts. | No. |
| Device/installation identifier | An anonymous, app-generated identifier, used only if you enable an optional background "liveliness" check for app health monitoring. | Only if that optional setting is turned on — sent to our own servers. |
| Email address | Only collected if you configure the optional Forward Messages feature to use an email-forwarding rule — in that case, the email address(es) you enter are used to send mail via the mail server you configure. | Yes, if and only if you set up this optional rule yourself. |
Simple SMS Manager's primary function is standard text messaging. It also includes a secondary, opt-in feature that lets you create rules to automatically forward matching incoming text messages to a web address (REST endpoint) or email address that you configure yourself, optionally replying with that destination's response.
This feature is off by default. If you turn it on and set up a rule, the content of matching messages and the sender's phone number will be sent to the destination you specified. We do not see, store, or have access to this data unless you have pointed the rule at a service that we operate. You are responsible for the security and privacy practices of any third-party destination you configure.
Note: if you configure a destination using http:// (not
https://), data sent to it is not encrypted in transit.
Messages and contacts are stored using Android's standard on-device storage (the same storage any default messaging app uses), not in any database we operate. Uninstalling the App or clearing its data through Android's Settings removes anything the App itself has stored (such as your forwarding rules). Messages forwarded to a destination you configured are retained according to that destination's own policies, not ours.
Simple SMS Manager is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
